Boarding section
At Empower International Academy the boarding life is like a home away from home. The Resident staff mentor the students and guide them in learning to live together, giving them growing trust and responsibility as they grow and mature. There is a lot of laughter and learning together and even mistakes are corrected prayerfully with grace and wisdom.
Students live in dormitories with dedicated Resident Parents and Resident Assistants to oversee their well-being at school,ensuring close supervision and that curfew time (expected bedtime at 9:30pm) is maintained. There are two Resident Parents, one male and one female,who work together with the Resident Assistants all of whom reside on campus.
Each student belongs to a ‘family’ where students receive mentoring, counseling and guidance while at school. Our family system is a structure where we divide each of the boarding houses into 2 families that are each headed and led by Resident Assistants.
The intention behind families is to create a “go to” parent figure for the students when they need advice counselling, mentorship or just some extra support from a member of staff within the boarding house.
Our boarding facilities have several sets of dorms for both the girls and boys. The dorm is divided into cubicles for proper spacing of the students and they have indoor bathrooms for safety and security of the students especially at night time.
Students life has a structured daily schedule, this includes a variety of activities which the students get involved in like; House Chores, Preps, Laundry and Cleaning, After School activities like Sports, Reading, Watching TV news, Puzzles and Board games ,Music making amongst other activities.
The students have access to a variety of shared spaces including the Dining Room, Library, IT Lab, Assembly Hall, Classrooms, Open spaces and the Playing fields and Courts.
