OUR STORY
Empower International Academy is owned and run by Music For Life Uganda. Music For Life is best known for its flagship program The African Children’s Choir, the first choir coming from Uganda in 1984.
It had been a long term vision of Music For Life’s founder Ray Barnett to establish a secondary school offering a truly world-class Christian education where students would have the opportunity to develop their talents, leadership skills, creativity and ultimately graduate as faith filled Christians with a desire to serve and have a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

In 2014 Music For Life began talks with Empower African Children, another NGO working in Uganda with a similar mission to provide quality education and opportunity for musically talented children. EAC also wanted to establish a quality secondary school and had already obtained land for this purpose in Nswanjere, Mpigi District. The two organisations agreed to partner to construct the first phase of the school.

Music For Life partnered with Engineering Ministries International to design the school.
The vision slowly began to take shape as Music For Life partnered with Engineering Ministries International to design the school. The first phase of construction of a custom-made set of buildings started in 2017, financed by a grant from USAID, Living Waters International and the generosity of many individual donors.
The development of the school is ongoing, MFL has since acquired additional land, Phase 2 has been completed along with a newly finished basketball court and planning is underway for the design of Phase 3.
