The Stoplight Approach

The Stoplight Approach
We have three guiding principles to help students understand our expectations of them as shown in this diagram, we require them to:
- Be Safe
- Be Respectful
- Be Responsible and Ready to Learn
It is our philosophy that the educational process and how we handle discipline should be progressive, redemptive and Christ-centred, with a focus on restoring students from their sinful nature. This is enshrined in our Discipline Policy and underpinned by our Child Protection Policy.
Our Progressive Redemptive Approach works hand in hand with the Stoplight Approach which is itself founded on Biblical principles and brain science.
Through the Stoplight Approach we aspire to be a Green Community where we all feel safe, respected, and ready to learn. The foundation stone of a Green Community is positive relationships that mirror our relationship with Jesus Christ, our Lord.
In seeking to educate, train and discipline our students in a progressive redemptive way we are also able to build the emotional intelligence of our students within a supportive and loving Green community.
Any form of corporal punishment is forbidden, this not only refers to caning or spanking but includes slapping, ear pinching, head knocking or any other form of abrupt physical punishment or consequence that has the intent to bring physical pain, shame or humiliation.
No consequence given should go against the Child Protection Policy
